Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Tamil Nadu Journal of Pharmaceutical Research (TNJPR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractice. This statement is based on the guidelines and best practices set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that submitted work is entirely original, and that any work or words of others are appropriately cited or quoted. All submissions are checked using plagiarism-detection software.
  • Data Integrity: Authors must present an accurate account of the research performed, along with an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately and retained for a reasonable period after publication for potential verification.
  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently, nor publish substantially similar work in more than one journal without appropriate disclosure.
  • Authorship: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must have seen and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their results.
  • Fundamental Errors: Authors who discover significant errors in their published work are obligated to promptly notify the journal's editors and cooperate to correct or retract the paper.

Duties of Editors

  • Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  • Editors ensure that peer review is fair, unbiased, and timely.
  • Editors maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and do not disclose information about a submission to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher, as appropriate.
  • Editors will act on suspected misconduct, including plagiarism and data fabrication, in accordance with COPE guidelines, even after publication.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may also assist authors in improving their manuscript through constructive feedback.
  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review and must not use information obtained through peer review for personal advantage.
  • Reviewers should conduct reviews objectively, supported by clear argument, and should declare any conflicts of interest before agreeing to review a manuscript.
  • Reviewers should alert the editor to any substantial similarity between the manuscript and any other published work of which they are aware.

Handling of Misconduct Allegations

Allegations of misconduct — including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, or undisclosed conflicts of interest — will be investigated by the editorial office in accordance with COPE guidelines. Depending on the outcome, actions may include rejection of the manuscript, correction, retraction of a published article, or notification to the authors' institution.

Retraction Policy

Articles may be retracted if there is clear evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research. Retractions will be clearly identified and linked to the original article in accordance with best practice.
